Waqrapukara, also known as Waqra Pukara, is an ancient archaeological site located in the Cusco region of Peru. Situated in the Andes mountains, it’s known for its stunning natural beauty and historical significance. The name “Waqrapukara” means “horned fortress” in Quechua, and the site features unique architectural structures, including stone buildings and terraces. These ruins offer a glimpse into the pre-Inca and Inca civilizations, providing valuable insights into the region’s history and culture. Waqrapukara has become an increasingly popular destination for hikers and tourists seeking a more off-the-beaten-path experience, as it offers not only historical intrigue but also breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
