The Salkantay route is a remote and ancient footpath in the same region as the Inka trail, offering arguably more spectacular views. This route provides a magnificent alternative for those who wish to escape the more congested trekking routes. On the trail, we pass through varying ecological zones, from sparsely vegetated alpine meadows flanking two spectacular 20,000ft glaciered peaks, down through subtropical forest to the Inka Trail, to later arrive at the Lost City of the Inkas, Machu Picchu.
We are proud to say that we run ecologically-safe trips and that we try to recycle as much as possible. All the inorganic and human waste is collected in different containers and removed from the trails we use.
Level: medium. People of all ages that have a good level of fitness can do this trek.
