Itynerary
Day 1: Welcome, Transfer, and Cusco Tour
- Welcome to Cusco: Upon your arrival at Cusco Airport, you will be greeted by our Coca Life Adventure team. We will give you a warm welcome to this fascinating city, which once served as the capital of the Inca Empire.
- Hotel Transfer: After a comfortable transfer to the hotel, you will have time to settle in and relax in your room.
- Cusco City Tour: In the afternoon, we will kick off our exciting journey with a comprehensive city tour in Cusco. The places to visit are:
- Qoricancha, the Golden Temple: Explore Qoricancha, an Inca temple adorned with gold sheets.
- Sacsayhuamán, Majestic Inca Ruins: Visit the impressive Inca fortress of Sacsayhuamán with panoramic views.
- Qenqo, the Stone Sanctuary: Explore Qenqo, a ceremonial complex with rock sculptures.
- Puka Pukara, the Red Fortress: Stop at Puka Pukara, an ancient fortress with red-toned rocks.
- Tambomachay, the Inca Baths: Visit Tambomachay, renowned Inca baths with ritual purposes.
- We conclude the tour near the Plaza de Armas.
- Accommodation in Cusco: After a day filled with discoveries, you will stay in a comfortable hotel in Cusco to rest and recharge.
Day 2: Sacred Valley, Magical Experience
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Excursion to the Sacred Valley: We will kick off the day with an exciting excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The places to visit are:
- Chinchero, Town and Archaeological Center: Our first stop is Chinchero, a picturesque Andean village. Here, you will explore its market and visit the archaeological center, where you will see ancient agricultural terraces and a colonial church.
- Moray, Inca Agricultural Laboratory: We will continue to Moray, where you will find an Inca agricultural laboratory in the form of circular terraces. You will learn about the agricultural experimentation of the Incas.
- Maras Salt Ponds: An impressive landscape of thousands of salt evaporation pools in the mountains.
- Buffet Lunch in the city of Urubamba.
- Ollantaytambo, the Living Inca City: You will explore its terraces, temples, and cobblestone streets while learning about its history.
- Visit to the Historic Complex of Pisac: Have an extraordinary experience in the village of Pisac. Visit the terraces and the artisan market to take a memento of this wonderful journey.
- Return to the city of Cusco.
Day 3: Inca Trail 4D/3N
Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba – Ayapata
- Adventure Begins: We’ll start early with a hotel pickup at 6:00 a.m. to head to the starting point of our journey, KM 82. On the way there, we’ll pass through the picturesque towns of Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo.
- Hike Along the Urubamba River: Once at KM 82, we’ll begin our hike alongside the Urubamba River, with breathtaking views of the snow-capped Veronica mountain (5900m). We’ll pass by the archaeological site of Llactapata and the village of Wayllabamba (3,000m) before reaching our campsite in Ayapata (3300m).
- Estimated Hiking Time: 6-7 hours
Day 4: Ayapata – Warmiwañusca Pass – Pacaymayo – Runkurakay Pass – Chaquicocha
- Crossing Warmiwañusca Pass: After breakfast, we ascend slowly towards Warmiwañusca Pass (4,200m) through a beautiful forest of Queñua trees. Along the way, we’ll pass through Llulluchapampa (3,750m), a typical Pampas area. After enjoying breathtaking views of the Andean landscape, we’ll reach Warmiwañusca Pass and descend to the Pacaymayo Valley (3,620m) for lunch.
- Exploration and Camping at Chaquicocha: Next, we’ll ascend to Runkurakay Pass and then descend to our campsite at Chaquicocha, where you’ll see a fine example of Inca trail construction.
- Estimated Hiking Time: 9-10 hours
Day 5: Chaquicocha – Wiñaywayna
- Scenic Day: This is one of the most beautiful days on the Inca Trail, where you will witness the remarkable harmony achieved by the Incas with their environment.
- Exploration of Archaeological Sites: We will visit the archaeological sites of Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, and Wiñaywayna, connected by a wonderful original Inca trail made of white granite, surrounded by lush forest vegetation.
- Campsite Near Wiñaywayna: Our campsite for the night will be near the archaeological site of Wiñaywayna (2,650m).
- Estimated Hiking Time: 5 hours
Day 6: Wiñaywayna – Inti Punku – Machu Picchu – Cusco
- Early Morning: We will start our day very early at 4:00 a.m., have breakfast, and begin our hike around 5:00 a.m. Here, we will say goodbye to the porters as they will return to Cusco with all the camping equipment.
- Trail to Inti Punku: We will walk through a dense tropical forest towards Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate, where we will have a spectacular panoramic view of the Inca Citadel.
- Exploring Machu Picchu: We will arrive at Machu Picchu around 7:00 a.m. and have a 2-hour guided tour of the most important sites. Then, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own.
- Return to Cusco: In the afternoon, you will take a train from Aguas Calientes back to Ollantaytambo and then a bus to Cusco.
Día 7: Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lake
Rainbow Mountain
- Hotel Pick-up, Trip to Cusipata: We begin the adventure by traveling to Cusipata, where we’ll have breakfast and recharge our energy.
- Journey to the Rainbow Mountain: After breakfast, we’ll head to the stunning Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca. Here, you’ll enjoy a panoramic hike through astonishing landscapes, revealing the iconic geological formations of vibrant colors.
- Return to Cusco: After experiencing the spectacular views of the Rainbow Mountain, we’ll return to Cusco.
- Accommodation in Cusco: You will spend the night in Cusco, where you can relax and enjoy the city.
Humantay Lake
- Hotel Pickup, Journey to Mollepata: We begin the adventure by traveling to Mollepata, where we will have breakfast and recharge our energy. After breakfast, we head to our starting point located in the community of Soraypampa.
- Get Ready to Explore the Impressive Humantay Lake: On this day, we will make our way to Humantay Lake, a natural treasure nestled in the heart of the majestic Andes. You will embark on an exciting hike that will lead you to this beautiful turquoise lake.
- Lunch in the Area: After the visit, we return to the town of Soraypampa and then to Mollepata, where we will enjoy our buffet lunch.
Return to Cusco: After experiencing the beauty of Humantay Lake, you will return to Cusco, where your adventure will come to a close.
